Our Team

The counsellors at Lily are all highly qualified female psychologists. They each have specific interests (e.g. women's issues, relationships, children) and have undergone extra training in their respective areas of expertise. They are professional, supportive, sensible and positive. They listen, understand and provide useful strategies to help with problems in all areas of life. All of our counsellors are fully registered with their respective professional associations e.g. Psychologists' Board of Queensland. They abide by the strict ethical and confidentiality guidelines of their Professional Associations.

Christine Bagley-Jones

Principal Psychologist

Christine is a psychologist with nearly twenty years experience who draws from a wide range of therapeutic approaches to impart creative strategies for achieving mental, social, emotional and physical well-being. She is very successful in helping individuals, couples and families with issues related to depression, anxiety, self esteem, pain, work, health, obsessive behaviours, relationships and substance misuse. Christine loves working with people of all ages.

Denise Britton

Principal Psychologist

Denise is both a registered psychologist and qualified social worker with over twenty five years' experience in counselling, assessment, mediation and report writing. She has run private practices in Rockhampton and on Wickham Terrace for over twenty years and is respected for her work with people facing the courts for various reasons, as well as for providing therapy for all age groups, covering a wide range of concerns. Denise understands the issues confronting the modern woman - whether juggling family and career or seeking a more fulfilling path in life. She respects the right of her clients to grasp control of ther lives and enjoys facilitating their self discovery. Denise is also a partner of Brisbane Mediations.

Margaret Pope

Psychologist

Margaret is a registered psychologist and qualified psychotherapist with over 20 years experience. She has worked with a wide range of clients in the Department of Corrective Services, the corporate sector and in private practice. Margaret's main focus is to help her clients discover the authentic self and reach their true potential. She successfully uses a number of evidence-based therapeutic approaches and has a keen interest in Jungian psychology and unconscious processes.

Geraldine George

Psychologist

Geraldine is a registered psychologist with over ten years experience in both the community sector and private practice. She uses a range of therapies to enable clients to challenge restrictive ways of thinking and to develop healthy ways of relating and being. Geraldine helps clients with a wide range of issues including depression, anxiety, stress, grief, trauma and anger management. She is an empathic listener who successfully encourages clients to grow and increase their self acceptance.

Soheyla Farhadi

Clinical Psychologist

Soheyla is a registered psychologist with experience in cross-cultural psychology, migrant and refugee population. She also has worked for many years in diverse settings including mental health, disability sector, pain management and private practice. Being a woman and the mother of two adult children, raising a family, working and building a career in psychology she has her share of hardship and adversity. However, the underlying principle for her personal growth and as for her clients has always been to identify, value, and mobilize our strength and to empower ourselves to change those aspects of our lives that we can change with mindfulness, cognitive behaviour therapy and positive thinking she tries to help clients to recognise their potential and appreciate their strengths to challenge and defeat emotional problems such as depression, anxiety, trauma and pain disorders, personality and interpersonal issues including marital and familial problems. Her ultimate goal is to equipped clients with emotional and physiological tools required to become empowered and to commit themselves to actions that improve and enrich their lives.

Yasmin Schaefer

Psychologist

Yasmin is a registered psychologist who has experience in working with children, young people and adults. She utilises a broad range of skills, assisting clients with issues including post-traumatic stress, depression, anxiety, low self-esteem, grief and loss, family dysfunction and relationship issues. Having worked in child protection Yasmin is familiar with civil and family law court matters and has experience in supporting survivors of child sexual assault. Yasmin has completed training in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy as well as creative approaches such as play therapy. She utilises a holistic, person-centered approach, catering to the individual needs of each client. Yasmin aims to assist clients to reach their full potential, success and emotional wellbeing in both their personal and professional life.

Katharine Smith

Psychologist

Katherine is a registered psychologist currently completing her professional doctorate in Clinical Psychology and has extensive experience in working with children, adolescents, adults and families. Her work has included supporting clients struggling with depression, anxiety, behavioural problems, low self-esteem, asjustment issues, grief and loss, and family and relationship difficulties.

Katherine has a particular interest in working with trauma related issues, such as complex trauma, post traumatic stress and issues resulting from trauma (anxiety, depression, self-harm, etc.). She also has experience working with children in foster care. Katherine applies an integrative framework based on her broad training, consisting of empirically validated treatment approaches such as CBT, Solution-Focused Therapy, Schema Therapy, Mindfulness, and Psychodynamic Therapy. Katherine works from a person centred view that focuses on clients achieving their goals and help them lead a healthy life.

Sarah Swannell

Psychologist

Sarah is a registered psychologist with the Psychology Board of Australia and a member of the Australian Psychological Society. Sarah has worked with a variety of clients on a number of concerns, but is especially experienced in working with children, teenagers and young adults who present with self-destructive behaviours (including self-injury, self-harm, suicidal thinking, suicide attempts, eating disorders, overeating and substance use). Sarah uses a mix of therapeutic approaches including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Dialectical Behavioural Therapy, Schema Focused Therapy, Emotion Focused Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and Family Therapy.

Sarah also holds an adjunct position as Senior Researcher in the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Queensland, where she is heavily involved in researching the causes and treatments of self-destructive behaviours. Sarah has a number of publications in this area.
